Adult Packages
Adult and Seniors just recently starting to learn how to drive or seniors who already drive but need a brush up course to prepare for a regular DMV Drive Test or Driver Safety Division Road Test are welcome at America Driving School! We are ready to help you just as we have helped hundreds of other Adults & Seniors pass their Drive Test and helped with the process of retaining or obtaining their license for over 20 years.
Seniors, who have been notified by the DMV because the license has been revoked, suspended or is time for a license renewal and re-examination testing would be advised to get an assessment and a professional evaluation by a state licensed driving school.
We can provide an evaluation of your driving skills, identify your strengths and weaknesses and any bad habits if any you may have picked up over the years. We will identify what problem areas are being neglected and make any recommendations you may need to successfully pass the DMV drive test.
WRITTEN TEST PREPARATION
The first thing you would have to do before you can start to drive is take a written examination at your local DMV to obtain an instruction permit or we can provide you with a student license issued by the driving school before you begin you’re behind the wheel instructions. We can assist you with private individualized lessons at your home or in-classroom tutorial instructions and review the California Drivers Handbook with our home study Q & A Pamphlet and tests that we will provide you with to pass the written test. Once you pass the written test you will be issued an instruction permit. You may use the permit to practice with a Professional Driving Instructor or with an accompanying adult who is 25 years of age or older, with a valid California license.

SENIOR BEHIND THE WHEEL
According to the Department of Motor Vehicles there are well over 5-1/2 million licensed drivers aged 55 and older in the state of California alone. Over 2-1/2 million of them are 70 and older. This is the largest population of older licensed drivers in the United States. Generally, older drivers, especially over the age of 70 have more crashes per mile than any group except teenagers and young adults according to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, National Center for Statistics & Analysis. It is also more difficult for older drivers to recover from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. We at America Driving School are concerned for the safety of our drivers of all ages, but more mature drivers experience physical changes such as declining vision, hearing, reaction time, and flexibility that can affect safe driving habits. That is why America’s seniors have come to America Driving School because we have met the challenge to help and prepare hundreds of older adults successfully pass their drive test for over 20 years. Our testimonials are evident to the fact that we have done our job to help people like you retain and keep their license. We offer lesson packages from a 6-hour package to a 100-hour package depending on the student’s abilities or lack there of and or needs. Please check our package pricing below. RENEWALS & RE-EXAMINATIONS
If you have not already received two consecutive five-year extensions, you may be eligible to renew by mail, without taking a written test, if:
- Your current license expires before age 70.
- You do not have a probationary license.
- You have not violated a written promise to appear in court within the last two years.
- You are not suspended for driving with an illegal blood alcohol content (BAC) level, or for refusing, or for failing to complete a chemical or preliminary alcohol-screening test within the last two years.
- You do not have a total violation point count greater than one.
Note: You may renew by Internet if your renewal-by-mail notice includes a Renewal Identification Number (RIN)
DMV can reexamine a driver when information suggests they no longer have the knowledge and/or skills necessary to drive safely. Such reexaminations are based on information received from peace officers, physicians, family members, relatives, and acquaintances or other drivers sharing the road by getting the license plate number and submitting a complaint to the DMV stating specific observations relating to the person’s potential ability to drive safely.
At a reexamination, a Driver Safety Hearing Officer may ask you a wide range of questions about your driving history and about specific incidents on your driving record, as well as questions about your health and medical history, and questions about the rules of the road and how you would handle specific driving situations. You may be asked to provide medical reports from your physician, medical records, or similar documents. All information concerning your health and medical history is confidential by law, and the department cannot divulge this information to any outside party. The Driver Safety Hearing Officer may require you to submit to a vision test, a written test of your knowledge of the rules of the road, and a drive test. If a drive test is required, you will be scheduled for a separate drive test appointment. When taking a drive test, you must provide a vehicle in which to take the test. You must present acceptable proof of financial responsibility (automobile insurance) in effect at the time of the drive test. Following the reexamination, the Driver Safety Hearing Officer decides whether any action should be taken against the person’s driving privilege in the interest of public safety. If so, such action may be a restriction, probation, suspension, or revocation of the driving privilege. The driver is notified in writing of the action and usually would have the right to a hearing to contest the action if they believe it is unjustified.
